People
The friendly, smiling faces of Roatan include a mix of people. Garifunas are black islanders who speak English with a captivating Caribbean lilt. There's a large Spanish-speaking population that has migrated from the mainland over the decades. And you'll meet many folks from a steadily growing population of ex-patriates from the U.S., Canada, and Europe who have opted to make Roatan their home.
Climate
The tropical temperature on Roatan is a balmy 80 degrees on average, with the trade wind breezes cooling everything off when the heat rises, and the warm rain nurturing the island’s prolific plant life.
